I have eaten a lot of sushi in my life, most of it with a napkin tucked into my collar and a hopeful expression. Fort Lee has a way of humbling you, especially when the George Washington Bridge traffic makes you wonder if you will ever eat again.

This list is not a ranking; it is a confession, running from the theatrical tableside torch at Moru to the glorious, unpretentious indulgence of PJ Sushi’s spicy tuna roll. I have chased a tiny toy train for my dinner and bowed deeply to an omakase chef with no menu at all.

I have even reviewed a Korean barbecue spot, because the banchan is that good. Your stomach will thank you, even if your wallet does not.

Dive in.

Crispy squid and shrimp
Fresh, beautiful sashimi
Decadent Wagyu Uni Hand Roll
Tableside-torched A5 Don
Modern, cozy atmosphere

Moru is the kind of place that makes me question every sushi decision I have ever made. The crispy squid and shrimp arrive with a crunch so precise it feels almost architectural. Then the sashimi arrives, fresh and beautiful enough to make me feel guilty for eating it. But the real moment of weakness came with the Wagyu Uni Hand Roll, a decadent pairing that I now measure all other hand rolls against. And the tableside-torched A5 Don? I watched the flame lick the marbled beef and realized I had stopped breathing. The modern, cozy atmosphere wrapped around me like a warm blanket. I left humbled, full, and already planning my return. I am not proud of how fast. But I am honest.

Sushi House, or as I have affectionately started calling it, my weekly appointment with consistency. Over twenty orders, I have watched this family-owned spot deliver the same dependable quality, the same precise cuts, the same fresh ingredients, every single time. The service is quick, yet never rushed. The takeout presentation is so careful and elegant that I almost feel bad eating it over my kitchen sink. Almost. There is a serious craft here, a quiet discipline in every roll that makes me trust them completely. A reliable, affordable gem in Fort Lee. I have written many reviews in my life, and I have rarely been this grateful to be a regular.

Omakase served all at once
Crispy fried avocado standout
Clean, well-maintained dining room

Sushi Bada in Cliffside Park is a bit of a confession. I went in expecting the typical omakase pomp, and instead I found a clean, well-maintained dining room where the staff treated me like an old friend. The sashimi was fresh and flawless, each piece tasting like the sea had personally apologized for all the mediocre fish I have ever eaten. The omakase arrived all at once, which I found refreshingly direct. The crispy fried avocado stole the show in a way that baffled me. How dare a vegetable outshine the tuna. The service was attentive throughout, friendly and warm. I left with a full heart, a fuller stomach, and a new standard for fried things.

Whimsical train delivers fresh sushi
Attentive service from wonderful staff
Date night perfection with playful vibe
Kid-friendly introduction to sushi
Outrageously flavorful, memorable bites

Choo Choo Train Sushi makes me feel like a child again, which is terrifying because I do not trust children with sushi. But the whimsical train delivering fresh plates straight to my table is pure joy. The service is wonderful, attentive, and the staff seem genuinely delighted by the chaos of it all. The playful vibe makes it perfect for date night, though my date was more focused on the train than on me. I cannot blame them. The pieces are outrageously flavorful, memorable bites that I still think about. It is also a fantastic introduction for kids, though I might keep the wasabi far away from mine. I rode the train ride of sushi discovery, and I loved every second.

Sushi by Sea is the closest I have come to feeling like I have been adopted by a sushi family. The chef and staff treated me with such warmth that I forgot I was paying for the privilege. The multi-course omakase was impeccable, each plate a study in global fish sourcing and expert explanation. I learned about fish I have never heard of, and I ate them with reverence. The atmosphere is relaxed and inclusive, which is rare for fine dining, and the parking is effortless, a true luxury in Fort Lee. I left feeling like I had attended a masterclass and a family dinner simultaneously. I am not sure I have ever felt so full and so educated.

Surprisingly fresh AYCE meat
Welcoming, kind, attentive staff
Spacious for family gatherings
Perfect pairing with draft beer
Reliable, never-disappointing visits

I came to 365 BBQ for the Korean barbecue and stayed for the surprisingly fresh AYCE meat. I am a sushi reviewer, so I approached this with skepticism. The staff are welcoming, kind, and attentive, and the space is spacious enough for a family gathering, which is good because I almost brought my entire extended family. The draft beer paired perfectly with the smoky, savory cuts. Every visit has been reliable, never disappointing, which is not a phrase I use lightly. The banchan was fresh, the grill was hot, and my stomach was full. I am not saying this is the best sushi in Fort Lee. But I am saying it is the best Korean barbecue I have reviewed this month.

All-you-can-eat for thirty-two
Fresh sushi, quality portions
Attentive, easy ordering process
Spotless, inviting small space
Regulars’ absolute favorite spot

Arigato is the kind of place that makes me feel both wildly gluttonous and deeply satisfied. All-you-can-eat for thirty-two dollars is a dangerous concept for someone like me. The sushi is fresh, the portions are quality, and the ordering process is so easy that I kept accidentally ordering more. The small, spotless space is inviting, and the staff are attentive without hovering. I watched the regulars walk in and be greeted by name, and I felt a pang of envy. This is their absolute favorite spot, and after my first visit, I understood why. I ate enough for three people. I have no shame. I have Arigato.

Fast, fun conveyor service
Wide sushi variety, delicious
Cute gacha plate prizes
Friendly staff, great desserts

Kura Revolving Sushi Bar is a delightful assault on my senses and my wallet. The conveyor belt delivers a wide variety of sushi, all of it delicious, and I found myself eating faster just to catch the next plate. The gacha plate prizes add a layer of gambling to my meal, which is both dangerous and thrilling. The staff are friendly, and the desserts are surprisingly great for a place that focuses on revolving plates. I won a tiny toy that I will treasure forever. I am not sure my dignity survived the experience, but my taste buds did. For a fun, fast, and frankly addictive sushi experience, Kura delivers. I would go again. I will go again.

Premium sushi takeout only
DIY temaki handroll set
Free-range karaage chicken
Live omakase catering
Party platters that impress

Tori To Sakana Sushi is proof that takeout can be premium, and that I should probably cook more. The DIY temaki handroll set arrived beautifully packaged, and I felt like a sushi chef assembling my own cones. The free-range karaage chicken was a revelation, crispy and juicy. The live omakase catering is something I have only heard whispers about, but the party platters I have seen look like works of art. I ordered for a small gathering and ended up with everyone asking where I got it. I felt like a hero. Then I felt guilty for not sharing the address. It is takeout only, but the freshness and craft rival many sit-down spots. I am still a little shook.

Top-tier neighborhood value
Reliable go-to spot
Unpretentious and delicious

PJ Sushi is my neighborhood go-to, and I say that with the pride of a regular who has finally found a home. The owners are warm and welcoming, and they remember my order, which is both touching and a little alarming. The portions are generous, the fish is fresh, and the value is top-tier. It is unpretentious and delicious, the kind of place I recommend to friends without hesitation. Every visit is reliable, and I have never left disappointed. The spicy tuna roll is a personal weakness, and the salmon nigiri never misses. I have written many reviews, but I have rarely been this grateful for a simple, honest sushi spot. PJ Sushi, you have my heart.

Real omakase only, no menu
Chef dedicates life to sushi
BYOB sake with chef
Beautiful plating, fresh fish
Warm, attentive hospitality

Sushi Aoki is not for the faint of heart or the indecisive. This is real omakase only, no menu, and the chef has dedicated his life to sushi. I felt like I was interrupting a sacred ritual when I asked. The BYOB sake pairing with the chef is an experience, and the warmth of his hospitality made me forget I was a customer. The plating is beautiful, and the fish is so fresh that each piece tastes like a small ocean. There is no menu to hide behind, no excuses to make. This is the chef's craft, laid bare. I left with a profound respect for the art of sushi, and a slight buzz from the sake. I will be back.

Attentive, funny service

Raku Izakaya is where I go to feel alive, slightly confused, and very full. The skirt steak sauce is genius, and I have considered asking for a bottle to take home. The soft shell crab shines so brightly that it put the sushi in the background. The pork ramen beats the miso, and I will fight anyone who disagrees. The staff are attentive and funny, offering spot-on recommendations that I have learned to trust blindly. I ordered too much, ate too much, and left with a smile that did not fade. The service is the kind of service that makes me want to become a regular. I will. I already have. Please forgive me. It is just that good. And I am only sorry I did not write this sooner.
