Brunch in Edgewater is a full-contact sport, and I’ve taken the hits so you don’t have to. From the skyline-gazing calm of Kuppi’s avocado toast to the sheer chaos of a unicorn shake at Brownstone, this town runs the gamut between riverfront elegance and syrup-soaked pandemonium.

I’ve watched a man demolish short rib at Terravita while a kid three tables over lost his mind over logo pancakes. That’s Edgewater for you.

So clear your Sunday, loosen your belt, and let’s get into the definitive list of where to eat.

You know that feeling when a place just gets you? That's Madison Cafe & Grill. Gustavo's service is legendary, and honestly, he should teach a class. My birthday brunch there felt like a private celebration, all warm smiles and magic. They took the time to explain the Lebanese dishes, and each bite made sense. The Turkish music and elegant decor set a mood that's both fancy and cozy. I left feeling like I'd been to a friend's house, if my friend had impeccable taste and a secret talent for brunch. Go. Seriously. Bring a heart full of hunger.

Harry's Food and Drink is what I call grown-up comfort food. The elevated pub fare is top-notch, no soggy fries or sad sandwiches. The draft and cocktail list is impressive, and the bartender knows their stuff. Every dish came out fresh, flavorful, and reliable. The staff is friendly, and they gave solid recommendations when I couldn't decide. It's the kind of place that feels both classy and comfortable. I started with the burger, and I'd order it again. But I might be tempted by that short rib next time. Good problem to have.

Brownstone Pancake Factory in Englewood Cliffs is the bigger sibling with the same charm. The bacon is perfectly cooked, every single time, crispy but not burnt. Their massive, creative pancakes are worth celebrating, and I've done my fair share of that. The over-the-top shakes are a spectacle, and the menu seems endless. Home Sweet Harlem, despite the name, brought the soul to my Edgewater brunch. The catfish and grits absolutely shine. The catfish was crispy and flaky, and the grits were creamy, smooth, and worth a decade of searching. Warm, attentive service made the whole meal feel easy. I also had their savory waffles, which were fluffy and perfectly seasoned. Just a comforting, honest plate of food. I came for the hype, but I'll return for the grits. They're that good. The whole meal felt like a hug.
